Business Requirements

RxSport is the online venture of a well established chain of opticians. The opportunity to make a business from selling sports sunglasses online was noted and the target audience was researched and identified.

The work required the development of a brand and logo. It required a special e-commerce website that was cleverly adapted to use the eye prescription of the visitor to filter out sunglasses that were unsuitable. The site would then remember the visitor's prescription for each visit, making repeat purchases easier. This functionality on a sports sunglasses site was unique and was implemented to ensure that the site was of greatest value to the new and repeat sunglasses buyer.

Naturally, the website required pro-active promotion in order to generate significant sales volumes and these volumes needed to be there within weeks.

Our Solution

We started work with RxSport on the brand in earnest and arrived at a look, feel and message that sat well with the product and the target audience. That brand was then applied to the necessary collateral such as letter heads, compliment slips, business cards and email signatures.

The e-commerce site was to follow, with a review of the function and content before work commenced. The special prescription functionality described above was planned and building commenced. Whilst creating the award winning design, we planned for the organic search engine optimisation that was going to be required. We researched searcher behaviour on Google and other search engines in order to identify our goals. We managed the website search engine marketing on many fronts, including Pay Per Click, Organic, Products and email marketing.

Then, when the needs of the business changed, we created a new website with greater functionality and flexibility and continued to promote the site hard.

Outcomes and Benefits

The website is now the top prescription sunglasses website in the UK. The business has gone from startup to one that has a significant turnover and the success of the website is due largely to the foresight of the management team and the search engine success that the site has achieved through page 1 Google positioning.

The high volume of products that are required to be dispatched is made possibly by the integration of the Post Office labeling system, cutting dispatch work to a minimum.
